Birchcliffe-Cliffside sits along the Scarborough Bluffs in the southwest corner of the former City of Scarborough, with Kingston Road as its main street and Lake Ontario below. Birch Cliff dates back to 1895 as home to the Toronto Hunt Club. Cliffside was built out as a postwar subdivision in the early 1950s on former farmland and golf course land, so much of the housing predates 1960. The Bluffs and the paths down to the lake are the main draw, along with the neighbourhood's parks, trails, golf course and beach.
Most homes here are detached, with some condo apartments, and daily life generally depends on a car. That makes it a better fit for move-up buyers, families and downsizers than for most first-time buyers.
